Meredith’s
Secret
Remedies
Supplements are often toted as the end-all-be-all of wellness. This is, of course, untrue. The small changes in routine and diet introduced in week one will do as much or more for you in the long-term than herbs and supplements ever will. However, I’d like to introduce some really awesome helpers to kickstart you along this path.
For you, Sarah, I’ve chosen supplements that will support your fertility by balancing hormones and making your womb a super chill and cozy place to live. I’ve also chosen MSM which will help with muscle recovery since soreness has been a pervasive factor throughout your workout journey. I’d also like to introduce an adrenal cocktail and an energy support supplement.

Adrenal cocktail
This is our cortisol-regulation secret. It will help to replenish electrolytes that are lost during times of stress, fatigue, and hormonal shifts. It will help to mitigate the afternoon coffee craving by supporting blood sugar stability and provide vitamin C and sulfur for adrenal repair and inflammation reduction.
-

Dandelion Root
I’ve chosen dandelion for your liver detox due to your affinity for bitters. Liver detoxification is essential to the estrogen-purge we’re inducing. Dandelion has a long history of liver detox, its first documented uses dating back to ancient Greece.

Magnesium Glycinate
The glycinate molecule, which is an amino acid, actually binds to calming receptors in the brain which helps to reduce anxiety and improve sleep. This makes it ideal for vata-dominant people.
Magnesium is most valuable in the follicular phase because it is essential for estrogen metabolisation. It can help to regulate cortisol which is most likely the cause of the “adrenal fatigue.”

Shilagit
This is a fun one. It is said that Alexander the Great gave his soldier’s Shilagit so that they would have expedited recovery and strengthened endurance in battle. The name translated from Sanskrit means, “destroyer of weakness.” Unlike most other supplements, it is not an herb, it is created from the slow decomposition of plant material over many centuries, deep in the rocks of mountain ranges from across the world. It is also known as the “blood of the mountains.” Essentially, it is a really thick paste-like substance that has a crap ton of micronutrients.

MSM Powder
MSM is my recommendation to target your muscle soreness and workout fatigue. It reduces inflammation, supports connective tissue, and will reduce the cramping you’re feeling during ovulation. It is a bioavailable form of sulfur, which has also been used as medicine for thousands of years. Think sulfur spring for muscle tension.

Shatavari
Shatavari is an adaptogenic herb that supports hormone balance, fertility, mood, and immunomodulation.
In Ayurveda, there are recorded uses of Shatavari that span thousands of years. Shatavari translates from Sanskrit to, “she who possesses a hundred husbands,” but in my house we call it “sexy juice.”
